[YOUR ADDRESS] [TODAY'S DATE] To Whom it May Concern, I am writing to express my wish that some sort of deal or compromise can be reached so that a film version of The Hobbit can become reality. A few short years ago, I would have been skeptical that a film version of any of Tolkien's work could achieve the same magic that is contained in the books. Luckily, Peter Jackson, the folks at WETA and everyone else he hired proved me wrong and made three outstanding films. Yes, I admit it, I'm greedy and I want more. I want the beginning of the story. I want the finding of the ring that launches the stories we've just seen completed on the big screen, and all the adventures that happened in-between. I don't think this is too much to ask. I'm sure all parties involved want the film to happen, and recognize the great marketplace for it. I also think everyone realizes that to hold this up in legal debate for years could well kill the project. After all, the imitators are already in production of their films, and they will either dilute the audience, or prove again just how difficult it is to make a quality fantasy film. The only way to guarantee the film will be done right is to ensure Peter Jackson's services, and to that end, I am writing this letter. I am fully cognizant that filmmaking is a money making business, but in the end, isn't having a part in a film that is remembered fondly 100 years later more rewarding? I realize I'm just a _________student/career________ and have very little knowledge of how Hollywood Studios conduct business, but I am a movie patron. I've been frustrated by decades of bad 'book to film' adaptations, or worse, hearing about promising stories that then get shelved indefinitely. In fact, Tolkien's work has had previous versions attempted, and none too successful, with one project shelved halfway through the story. It is a lifelong dream to see The Hobbit come to film, particularly after having seen The Lord of the Rings done so well. After all, it was the Hobbit that I read ________at age/in grade______ long before I was ready to tackle Lord of the Rings. It was the Hobbit that sucked me into the world of Fantasy literature that I have still not escaped. Look deep within and find your better nature. You can have a real and tangible part in filmmaking history by doing all in your power to make this film happen the way it has to happen, with Peter Jackson at the helm.
